• The Pubworld licensed trade site provides an insight into pub culture in the UK.
• The SIBA (Society of Independent Brewers) website reflects the dynamic world in which the small brewer is trading.
• The Inverness & Highland Branch of the Campaign for Real Ale aims to keep real ale drinkers up to date with local issues and events.
• The Fat Badger's Guide to Quality UK Inns lists some of the very best inns of character.
• The SPBW (Society for the Preservation of Beers from the Wood) provides information about beers from the wood.
• The Inn Sign Society aims to record the history behind the names found on inn signs.
• The Pub History Society brings together like-minded individuals who enjoy some aspect of pub history.
• Jeremy Hastings runs Islay Birding and his website features an exhaustive list of birds that can be found there.

• There are, of course, seven (nearly eight) whisky distilleries on Islay. Those with websites are found at Ardbeg, Bowmore, Bruichladdich, Kilchoman and Laphroaig. Also worth visiting is the Isle of Jura distillery.
